Passionate and intelligent, however...,
This review is from: The Punishment of Gaza (Paperback)
I respect and admire Gideon Levy. I visit his website (Haaretz) daily and admire the work of that newspaper.
However there are always at least two sides to a story.
I would recommend an article by a Saudi Moslem woman based in the US who has written; http://blogs.timesofisrael.com/israels-jihad-is-mine/
Its good to have another viewpoint on such a controversial issue.
Well done Gideon Levy nevertheless.

Avid reader says:
I believe that the Muslim woman you are referring to is Dr Qanta Ahmed, a professor of Medicine, and she writes movingly about the myths and misrepresentations of Israel, in particular 'the struggle' that Hamas is famed for. She also courageously speaks out against this terror organisation and other Islamic regimes. Her challenge to fight the lack of human rights towards women in Islam is what Ahmed calls 'her true jihad'.
Such a pity that Dr Ahmed is not offered more platforms to present her views. I say this because the binary model of Israel = oppressor, Palestine = passive victim continues to distort and misrepresent the truth.
While this rhetoric does not move us any further towards peace it does, however, handsomely rewards Hamas with PR accolades and a continued high profile media presence. It also rewards the growing numbers of Israel-bashing authors with huge annual publishing royalties.
