Rave review for Road Rat's Tips,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Road Rat's Tips - The Musician's Guide to Keeping Comfortable, Safe, Sane and Employed on the Road. Foreword by Imelda May (Paperback)
Road Rat's Tips is a book of carefully-crafted advice specifically aimed at travelling musicians (and would also work for any person who travels in pursuit of their living), written with terrific verve by a man who knows his subject from every possible angle.
Re-emphasising the point at every opportunity that giving your best possible performance is vital to making yourself employable and - moreover - memorable for all the *right* reasons, Pete Cook gives tips which can't fail to ensure safe, trouble-free travel in the name of your art, from keeping your instrument, passport and other valuables safe to finding your way back to a foreign hotel if you get lost or plastered, and (of equal value)on etiquette and diplomacy (plain old good manners).
An instantly engaging read, Road Rat's Tips has a clear layout brim-full of coherent advice and is wonderfully funny, laced with much anecdotal evidence. Pete Cook's writing has a genuine feel; his style is personal: great advice given easily by an old friend.
New to the road or not, this book has something for every musician.

Mr David p Peddy says:
I have yet to read Road Rat's Tips and I am not a musician ( but travel /travelled extensively for my work) but this review has ensured that I shall waste no time in doing so.I will be reading this poolside in Marrakesh in September!

I think this reviewer clearly has great gifts with the written word and I can only assume that if such an author was impressed with the original work under discussion, it must indeed be well worth a read.
