How many English artists/authors can you cram into a book?,
This review is from: English Music (Paperback)
This book is tedious. The dream sequences are somewhat pointless, and Ackroyd seems to be trying to win a competition to see how many English artists/authors/composers he can cram into a short space of time. I have no sympathy with the main character or with his father, who both drift aimlessly through life and never actually achieve anything (maybe that's the whole point and I'm just missing it completely...). Far too descriptive and meaningless if you know nothing about the so-called famous people the author is talking about.
