No dye has ever come anywhere near close to the results of this. Its a miracle product. Mostly to do with the pre-lightener I'm sure but the the colour & tone is lovely also. I cant believe, & neither can anyone else thats commented, that you can get results like this without bleaching. Amazingly, it even fights against oxidisation, I have been dying my hair black for 10 years & with dyes that have colour lock type systems that embed so deeply in the hair that when used with high heat appliances act like a permanent marker for hair & last forever, even when colour removing products are applied like 'colour B4', another great product but unfortunately my hair is too far gone! This product however has somehow penetrated through, not fully of course but very much so, I cant believe it, I'm so so very impressed. Also, it lasts longer than I expected as red dyes notoriously fade very quickly. On top of that, when my brown & grey roots come through I find they don't notice anywhere near as much. A good tip for anyone who dyes their hair red is to use a dry shampoo of course, you could double the longevity of the colour. I use batiste xxl, another absolute miracle of a product. Its a great multi-tasker for someone like me who doesn't have much hair, its long but with no fullness, volume or body so also gets greasy very quickly, & dyed red of course. So not only does it 'wash' my hair, it also helps my colour last so much longer & gives my hair unbelievable volume, body & manageability. I've used all sorts of volumising products over the years with little success if any at all, I was dumb-founded at what happened when I used batiste, as I was with the results of Hicolor, I suddenly turned into cheryl cole from the l'oreal adverts! For the first time I looked like I had a full, luscious, glamorous head of hair!
