Warning - This Kettle Has A Known Design Flaw,
This review is from: Russell Hobbs 15082-10 Illuminating Glass Kettle - Clear (Kitchen & Home)
NOTE: THE REVIEWS FOR THIS KETTLE WERE SO BAD THAT THEY CREATED A NEW LISTING WITH NO REVIEWS. THIS REVIEW IS FROM THE OTHER LISTING, PUBLISHED 18 MONTHS EARLIER.
The problem with these reviews is that most are written immediately after purchase, so when the product has a serious design flaw that only shows up after weeks or months, that isn't reflected in the comments. The design of the lid on this kettle is such that it is guaranteed to fail, probably between the first and second years. When it does, you will have to throw the kettle away because Russell Hobbs will not supply a spare lid, will not admit that thousands of customers have this problem and will place the burden on you of getting it fixed.
My kettle lasted 14 months before the lid completely seized up. My advice is, avoid Russell Hobbs products - this company is contemptuous of its customers!
This review and many more like it have been published here for almost a year. Yet, Russell Hobbs continue to market this kettle KNOWING that it has a number of serious flaws which virtually guarantee it wont last much beyond a year - if you're lucky. What does that tell you about Russell Hobbs? And why has Amazon not withdrawn it from sale?
DONT LET THESE COMPANIES RIP YOU OFF.

Thank you for these reviews. I am bying a new kettle and liked the look of this one although I don't normally buy Russell Hobbs as they trade on their name which used to convey quality. I will not be buying this one now.

Agree 100%. I had one of these kettles for just over a year, the lid started playing up then just came away. Two pieces of plastic forming the hinge have just sheared completely. Really annoying! Do NOT buy this kettle!

Its not only this model which has this fault, our Russell Hobbs stainless jug kettle lid has become detached for the same reason and replacement lids do dot appear to be available. This kettle was a replacement for another which became faulty under guarantee - no more Russell Hobbs appliances for me! (Kettle was not bought via Amazon, but in-store)

Somebody was saying the new model no. 15082-10 (which this item appears to be) fixes this problem re the faulty lid - so is there any concurrence that this fix actually works OK? Also if it breaks do they offer a replacement under the guarantee?, and how long is the guarantee?

Still breaks, same place. 8 months ours.

I just went for a Russell Hobbs 20430 Windermere - seems to get decent reviews
And some weeks later - it seems a fine kettle, no problems with it at all
