This review is from: Amarok [HDCD] (Audio CD)
Mike Oldfield, at his best, weaves elaborate tapestries of sound and imagination. Amarok is by far his most impressive album. I have always regarded it as the soundtrack to the imagination. Listen with your eyes close to this hour long piece of music.
I remember hearing TB when shortly after it came out but it wasn't until Moonlight Shadow in 1983 that I became a fan. Since then I have listened to all of MO's albums, buying them as they come out. I still remember coming across this album in 1990 and listening to it for a month before deciding that it was beyond music. This album touches on the imagination, carrying the listener to a world of emotion, of vision, of humour, of sadness, soaring to great heights of music. This is the best album by the most underrated artist of our time.
It is my dream that in centuries to come people will look back at Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Oldfield.
