I began reading the 'W.C' when I was, I suppose, 15 years of age. I did not know God in a personal, devotional manner until then. As, however, I read - and re-read - the Shorter Chatechism, I began to see the altogether loveliness of Jesus, my Lord and Saviour. I have moved from the 'purist' semi-sabbitarianism of this book, but, oh what a concise summary it presents, of the whole, vast body of Christian divinity. And, what a history! Second only to the Bible itself in changing this Scotland, England, Ireland and wales of ours into a cohesive, united Kingdom that once worshipped the Almighty, this book is to be treasured. It shows, clearly and with reverence, the way to salvation. By reading it, carefully imbibing its contents and applying them to one's heart, might one find true rest, and a definite assurance one will escape the aweful judgement that will befall this earth. Some parts might seem archaic, to be sure; but every bit is rich in historical relevance. And, now its available in Kindle: praise the Lord! I am a man in my seventies, and feel like a wee laddie again.
