This is a very fine book by one of the broadest minded philosopher/scholars of recent times.
Sorabji suffered because of his extensive training in analytical philosophy which could have easily led to brain damage and extreme narrow-mindedness. But he overcomes this problem, especially in the chapter on mystical experience. Here is a man who really tries to understand the great philosophers on their own terms. He does not see their historical character as a flaw but a source of possibilities for changing the way we understand philosophy in the present.
