Excellent value-a hidden gem.,
This review is from: Sony MDR-7506 Headphones,Wired (Electronics)I have used Senheiser HD-600 headphones with a Graham Slee Solo Amp for a couple of years now and I decided to try something different. To my ears these Sonys compare very well at a fraction of the cost.
They produce an immediate stereo image with extremely fast transients, excellent for modern electronic music. This does not mean that they are harsh however; balance is perhaps slightly bright which lead to an impression of increased detail but they are very listenable over long periods. Bass depth and speed is superb-just try Massive Attack's 'Angel' or Gus Gus's 'Love vs Hate'.
I also use Grado SR-60s occasionally and would rate the Sonys as equivalent if not slightly superior with the added benefit of sound isolation, better comfort and a nicer cable.
In the headphones world names such as Sehneiser, Grado, Audio Technica tend to dominate but I would say the MDR-7506 is a comparative bargain that is curiously hard to track down in the high street. Highly recommended.
