This review is from: Kindle, 6" E Ink Display, Wi-Fi, Graphite (Electronics)
Brought this item for my wife who liked the old kindle that reads the book back to you, gave her this kindle and found out that there is no text to speech, can't see why it was removed from this kindle.
So returned it and brought the newer 3g which does have text to speech
This review is meant for those people that want text to speech, which there are a number of you out there, and since making the mistake of buying this one have discovered many people have brought this item and realised it has no text to speech, for anyone else wanting one will now know that they should go for the 3g version so as to not waste time getting the wrong one, hope this helps some people.

It's an entry level model hence the lack of keyboard and audio facility which most people have no need for - this is reflected in the lower price. I think you should remove this 'review' as your failure to read the product spec isn't relevant.

This isn't a review- its just a demonstration of your inability to read and understand a product's spec.

You being illiterate is not an excuse for giving a poor rating for this product. Nowhere in the product description does it state having text-to-speech. If you had read it, understood it and thought about it for a few seconds you wouldn't feel the need to make yourself look like a fool in public.

blame yourself for not reading the spec before ordering.

There is a full comparison of both the kindles on Amazon that shows exactly what each product has or hasn't got. Even if I'm paying £1 or £100 I always fully read the product details and reviews and thorough research anything I buy. If text to speech is important to you you should have checked it out first.

It was a present for someone who had the 1st one, so would not expect the newer version to have less features

Joanne Sheppard says:
So, just because it's newer, you 'expected' it to have all the same features as a completely different model, even though it's considerably cheaper? Sorry, but you made a silly assumption and now you're complaining that the product doesn't do something it was never meant to do in the first place? Totally unhelpful. You bought the wrong product without doing any basic research - Amazon make all the features completely clear in their product specification. It's not rocket science.
