Works as advertised - drivers on CD could be a problem,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Cable Matters SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter in White (Personal Computers)
Bought this to use with my ultrabook which has no ethernet port for those times when one comes in handy.
installed automatically in Windows 8.1 but those drivers might have come from Windows update this is fortunate because the drivers are delivered on a CD and like most ultrabooks mine has no CD drive.
Drivers for all platforms are available here [...]
Did some quick speed tests, on USB 3.0 it managed 647Mb/s but this is probably limited by my crummy router. If I get a chance I'll retest on a decent switch to see what it can muster.
connected to USB 2.0 it still negotiates a gigabit connection but limited by the USB interface it manages 283Mb/s
The unit looks well made and has a green LED to show link/activity.

Hi I just read your review and I am in exactly the same boat as you. I have a lenovo ultrabook U330 and my laptop has no ethernet port nor CD drive. I'm thinkning about purchasing this adapter but as for the CD drive problem to download the appropriate drivers, how did you get around this probelm? Is there a link online where I can download the necessary drivers?
