Please Johnny, stop writing songs!,
This review is from: Wire To Wire (Audio CD)
Awful, just awful. For some reason Borrell thinks that if he sits alone at a piano, leaving the rest of his "band" redundant, he's somehow producing something of epic importance.
He's not. Wire to wire is like David Beckham doing poetry. It's that bad. There must be something he is better at? I almost crashed my car into someone the other day lunging for the radio controls as the cringe-worthy opening chords rang out. I'm sorry but it's so bad that my actions would stand up as a valid excuse in a court of law.
To summarize: Generic piano chords. Schoolboy 'passionate' lyrics. The end. It goes nowhere, says nothing, achieves exactly zilch.
This is the final straw for Razorlight. They started OK, got worse and have now plumbed uncharted depths within the Indie canon. How anyone can buy the album on the back of this is beyond me.

I had never listened to songs of razorlight before. I just heard it on the radio (again - they seem to like it); and looked it up to download.
I really don't understand your kicking this in the ground. I think wire to wire is a beautiful song, fits well with my beloved Fleet Foxes.

Seriously? I've heard a couple of songs by Razorlight and this one is sticking in my head. Its a fantastic track, it may be eneric and 'easy' in your eyes, but its simplicity is what makes this song what it is. And clearly if they are playing this song so often and selling an album on the back of it then.. well it speaks for itself.

Fair enough... perhaps I was a bit harsh! I think this is an extemely poor song and was simply wishing for people who were considering buying the album without listening to it first to take care. I could not review the album as I had only heard this song (far too many times for my liking).
Zorro, I would not use what the radio seems to like as a basis for a sign of quality.. but am glad to see we share a love for the foxes.
