Not her best work.,
This review is from: Shaman's Crossing (The Soldier Son Trilogy, Book 1): 1/3 (Paperback)
As a huge fan of her three previous series I was slightly disappointed with this title. The pace was very slow and I felt little interest in the welfare of the main characters. That said, This is only the first book of the series and thinking back to her previous trilogies there is a tendency for the first book to be lack luster.
I do write this review having just finished reading the second book in the series and hind sight grants me the ability to say that this book is pure setup for the second novel. Which by the way, is an excellent read.
As a novel on its own this book doesn't stand up well, however as part of this new series of books it is a good start and whilst I didn't feel much for Nevare in this book I felt more for him in the next book when I could better appreciate his losses.
I may sound harsh but this isn't her best work, thankfully it's not a trend she continues in book 2.
