Dear Mr Hudson, sorry, I didn't know who you were until I saw one of your singles on Youtube. Anyway, I quickly rushed to download your album (listening to it now). I'm not sure what I expected, Kanye West has obviously helped you a lot. His influence is clear on the album as it can only be described as electro-urban-pop. The production is amazing and your unusual voice is showcased well. The first track (featuring Kanye) is OK, but the album gets better and better the deeper you go into the track listing. "Knew We Were Trouble" is excellent, an electro mid tempo song with some good synths and drums.
Your sound is a little like the love child of Kanye West, Alphabeat and Annie. Your clear English accent is refreshing to hear in this genre of music. I would like to point out that the voice effect on "There Will Be Tears" is a bit chavy and over all it makes the song sound a bit...well...childish, but I think that might be Kanye's fault as I spotted something similar on his last album. "Stiff Upper Lip" is one of the highlights on your album, good use of a banjo. Hopefully this will become a single. "Central Park" is another great track that could have come from a Hot Chip album or The Postal Service.
"Everything is Broken" sounds a bit like a Timbaland reject at the start, but when it gets going is actually really good.
Overall, if you don't mind, I would suggest to people who are unaware of you should download "Knew We Were Trouble", "Central Park" and "Stiff Upper Lip". If they also like bands like The Postal Service, Kanye West, and White Lies, I would suggest a listen. Also if they like electro, urban and pop it might also be their cup of tea.
Well done Mr Hudson and good luck with this album.
