Not the original film,
This review is from: The Devil Rides Out (Blu-ray + DVD) (Blu-ray)For some baffling reason the producers of this edition have chosen to add special effects to various sequences including light beams, a wall of blue flames, lighting bolts... in an effort to modernize the films appearance. I loathe such tampering, but wouldn't care if they included the original version as well (they aren't). I'll retract this review if they do, if not, I suggest you add your own to the list if this practice bothers you as well.

Yes, it's the lack of the original that really rankles.
Hammer claim that it's not revisionism and not at all what George Lucas has done, but it's EXACTLY that. It's odd that they've kept pretty quiet about it. None of the Blu-ray's promotional material mentions the changes. It's only come to light because reviewers have spotted them.
The internet is full of people saying they've cancelled their pre-orders. Hopefully Hammer will get the message and do the right thing. It's not too late to pull this release and make sure both versions are on it.

It's very disappointing isn't it; by all means include these fripperies as extras but don't for goodness' sake despoil the original. The film is a product of its time, with all imperfections and qualities making it what it is.

Just saw a screening of this and hardly even noticed it myself. Don't worry, they haven't "George Lucassed" it. It honestly is not anything to be concerned about. The only bit that I actually noticed was when the angel of death appears and there is a brighter light that emits from the doorway. Aside from that the film looked completely unchanged to me. Also, it looks incredible!!!

The end FX in "DRO" were ATROCIOUS! They almost spoilt the movie. They were also...unfinished! So quit whining. Do yo think the original FX artist WANTED the blue screen to be seen behind the Angel of Death?! NO...he did not. And now it isn't!
In fact he supposedly complained about the lack of time and money to do the FX right.
This 'fixing' hugely improves the flawed to hell ending. I agree BOTH versions should be offered, yes. But as far as the new FX tweaks ruining or desecrating the film go...utter rubbish.
