Michael Bentine had several cracks at an autobiography. This was the last, from 1993, and, in my opinion, the best. For example, the book contains much more information about his first marriage compared with the scant four lines written about it in 'The Long Banana Skin'.
However, some of the common events in both books are changed slightly. The best example is in the story of MB's inspiration his comedy routine with the broken chair-back. In the Long Banana Skin, MB breaks the chair, but MB's brother takes the chair-back, makes it look like a machine gun, which provides an inspiration for a comedy routine. In the current book, MB breaks the chair, but then claims he had the initial idea for the machine gun, etc.
One can admit a faulty memory, but when Mr Bentine acknowledges similarities beteeen the two books and then uses divergent stories, it does start to get irritating.
