You also need a computer!,
I travel a lot and to save carrying chargers have moved over to charging various bits of kit (Nokia, Palm, GPS, etc.) using a plug adapter with a USB power source integrated or a car adapter with USB outlet, plus relevant cables. Works a treat. So, I was pleased to spot this charger, but not for long. Now I heartily regret my purchase, which has turned out to be a complete waste of money. Why? Because this charger will only work when attached to an active COMPUTER USB plug, NOT to a mains or car adapter! Basically you need to have it fixed to an active computer to charge your batteries! Unfortunately it doesn't tell you this on the packaging. So, this is going to be dropped in a bin and will never be travelling with me - it was a complete waste of money. If you need something like this for travelling, don't get the Energizer charger, try another.

No offence mate, but when you buy USB Battery chargers, it's for a computer, if you wan't to charge batteries in the car I suggest a ciggarette lighter battery charger?

I'm failing to understand how this can't work on any other USB charger device.
USB has two connections for power (+ve and ground) and two for data.
Clearly this must get its power from the two power connections ... the same two power connections on every other USB device.

Yep, me too, I'm confused. Maybe the example I had was a dud. But each time I retry it when I find it at the back of the drawer, and on one of my latest USB chargers, it still fails to charge. Now I have assigned it to the rubbish drawer. So, for me, it didn't work.

I've just bought one of these and it does work with a mains charger. I guess your one was faulty and you should had got it exchanged.

Hi. I suspect that you are right about a fault, but I believe that it is with my example of the battery charger as the mains charger works OK with other stuff. I try it now and then (when I find it in the drawer!) in case I was wrong but each time it fails me. Unfortunately I got it on my way through USA back to Europe so it was too costly to return. Now I have other options.

I had the same problem. Mine unit DID work with a mains USB adaptor for a while until it stopped charging one of the two batteries. I put it down to poor quality. Now in the bin.
