This is a good book about resilience. Resilience is the understated but stronger answer to stress. There is no shortage of stress about in life, and we need resilience if we are going to come through it in some decent shape, and flourish. This book gives a good overview of resilience, and of the things we can do that increase our resilience and things we can do that reduce it.
This is a book that will be just what some people need right now- especially those facing an acute stress, or needing to bounce back from some sort of setback. It's probably a good book to read before you actually need its information- if you have the resilience strategies in place you won't need to bounce back quite as often.
I liked it for its quotes and its overview, but I wasn't fully convinced that its suggested measures were described in enough detail. However there is enough in each chapter to get someone started in the right direction and hints on to additional resources, and the loss of detail leads to an increase in readability.
This is a book that will help many people improve their strategies for maintaing resilience, which is good for their mental and physical health. It may be just what you need at present.
If you want a deeper and more rounded discussion of the topic I'd recommend Al Siebert's book The Resiliency Advantage: Master Change, Thrive Under Pressure, and Bounce Back from Setbacks
