Very Disappointing Indeed,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Turtle Beach Ear Force Titanfall Atlas (Xbox One/360/PC DVD) (Video Game)
I bought these for my Xbox One but I also wanted to use them on my 360. But because I was so disappointed with them I never got as far as trying them on my 360. I have now returned them.
To start on a positive note the sound is good and that's where the one star in my score comes from.
I was able to compare them with my old Turtle Beach X11's side by side and in every way the Titanfall's are worse.
Mic Monitoring - a very good feature on the X11's but this feature is NOT available with this Titanfall headset on Xbox One, only on Xbox 360!! This is the single biggest problem with this headset. Because of the tight-fitting nature of the headset you cannot hear your voice at all and you will shout whether you want to or not. Not good for anyone else in the house and also hearing your own voice as a very distant booming is very bad. I stress that this is in direct comparison to the X11's on the Xbox 360 on which the mic monitoring is exceptionally good. I don't know if the lack of Mic Monitoring is a Headset or Console problem (I suspect it's the console) but it's a huge backward step and for a premium product it is unbelievable. Even if it is a console problem here is why this headset just doesn't cut it -
Microphone Stem - on the X11's the stem is very flexible indeed and when not in use can be rotated upwards out of the way. On the Titanfall headset it is rigid, not so easily bent into the correct position and it can't be rotated away when not needed.
Comfort - They are tight. It made me think they are made for children and someone forgot to mention this on the box. Not only are they tight but they are very rigid in design and don't have hinges in multiple places to allow them to mould their shape to your head depending on your preference. The extenders seem, due to their position, to actually serve to make them tighter. They in fact complete the circle! By comparison the X11's are very flexible and provide a snug but firm and comfortable fit. Incidentally the cups which fits over your ears is small. So if you have big ears I doubt that you could fit them in there at all!
The lead that plugs into the controller is too short. If you try to put the controller down, let's say on your footstool, and sit back you will pull the controller off. It's good that it's the only cable but not if it's too short.
In conclusion you shouldn't buy these unless you particularly like sitting with your head in a vice and bawling your head off while gaming.
