Pretty Terrible...But With Three Amazing Performances.,
This review is from: The Three Stooges [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)The Three Stooges has been a dream project for The Farrelly Brothers for 10 years, with a rumoured cast of Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn and Jim Carrey; that never came to be and when The Farrellys got their wish to make the film, at a seriously smaller budget, they ended up casting three lesser known actors but trust me, they are FANTASTIC in this film.
The plot is forgettable-
While trying to save their childhood orphanage, Moe, Larry, and Curly stumble into a murder plot and some how end up starring in a reality TV show.
The film as a whole reminded me of one of 90s SNL films ( A Night At The Roxbury, Black Sheep, Tommy Boy...) A time passer, but nothing memorable.
What saved this film, was the truely brilliant performances from Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamantopoulos.
They managed to somehow make the characters warm, likeable and never as annoying as this films trailers would make you think.
Now I'm not a Three Stooges fan, (over here in Ireland I grew up knowing very little about them other than Sam from Cheers liked them and Mel Gibson was a fan in Lethal Weapon) so if you're a fan I'm sure you will either rip this film to shreds, or like it alot more than I did.
The film is split up into three 'episodes' that are connected to make the film, I thought this was a great idea.
There are a few genuine laughs to be had, but basically, its a terrible film you would lie up on the sofa and watch on a Sunday afternoon. Outside the US market I cant see this film making much of an impression.
The Farrellys have fallen a long way since the hatrick of Dumb And Dumber, Kingpin and Theres Something About Mary. And this film doesnt do them any favours.
They have been planning this film for ten years, and its sad to see this was the best they could come up with.
See it for the dedication of the cast.

Seems the "dream project for The Farrelly Brothers for 10 years" has become our nightmare for the next 10 years!!
Though I agree with much that "DeckyStrikesBack" said here, see my 2 star review for more...
