Ignore the negative reviews by people who don't have one or those who don't understand that it controls only heating. I have a Combi boiler, so have no issues with this, but you can still have one even if you have a system boiler (i.e. you have a water tank heated by your boiler) - just leave the timer attached to run that function only. Also ignore the comments about having two things on the wall - the heat link goes next to your boiler and the nest thermostat goes either where your existing one is (fed by the same two wires, but at the boiler end these are now connect to the heat link to bring them down to 12v) or anywhere where there's an electrical socket - and I wouldn't worry about distance or walls either. The 'wifi' link between the two is amazingly strong - I have an old house with very thick brick and masonry walls, and there are four walls, the remains of the old kitchen range fireplace (now occupied by a large steel freezer) plus another fireplace/chimney breast, all standing directly between the thermostat and the heat link and they had no problem connecting- I can't imagine that many houses/situations would be more difficult or testing. It is beautiful to look at and easy to use- I did my heating schedule on my work pc simply by logging in to my nest account. It all worked on my iPhone and iPad immediately as I already have nest protects and the app. I got the free install (Homeserve- good! See below re Brolley who are not good) but I could have done it myself, although to be honest it probably isn't something that the majority of people could do. I am so impressed that I immediately ordered a second one for my weekend house. Being able to control the heating in both houses when we're travelling between the two and not having to remember to turn it down as we leave, plus being able to set it to be warm by the time we get there, is worth the money. Everyone who's seen it so far has stroked it.
Buy one, you know you want to...
The second one arrived and was due to be installed by Brolley. They were supposed to contact me and didn't, it took 3 calls to them to book an appointment. I could only be there on two days and they chose one of them. The day before they phoned to say the engineer's wife had given birth so they'd have to delay by a day - I explained that I'd already made it clear that no other day was suitable. They promised to phone back but never did.
I installed the thermostat myself (pretty easy) with no problems. I have since read on the Internet that there have been a large number of problems/cancellations with Brolley. I have made a complaint to Nest to ensure Brolley don't get paid, and suggested that they may want to review their relationship with them as their service is poor and much criticised.
This apart, I'm delighted with both Thermostats- it's really handy having one in each house and they both work perfectly.
Still fully recommended- just pray that you don't get Brolley as your installer!

Mr. M. Tassoumt says:
Where did you get the information to install the heat link yourself? pretty hard to find documentations on how to plug that thing with various cables out of the boiler.
