The recordings on this disc ARE THE SAME as those on the CD "Down Memory Lane with the Billy Cotton Band Show" on "Fat Boy" FATCD153 - I gave that 3 stars but this can have 5 since the sound has been CEDARed and is brighter than the Fat Boy
I don't know what the original source was but it's evidently Public Domain. There are a number of medleys on these discs, featuring the Billy Cotton Band from the Bandshow days with Kathy Kay and Alan Breeze - if you like light entertainment to sing along with in the car (to embarrass the kids if you like) this disc will do admirably. Smooth singing and one of the greatest bands ever to cheer up a Sixties Sunday afternoon. There are no announcements, just music ... possibly a sixties LP release?
Was it really so long ago? The Old Man died in '69 but he's well in evidence here with those well-remembered vocals that bring a tear to my eye....
The bright sound is certainly something to consider when choosing between this or the Fat Boy release (or even replacing what is a "mellow"er recording, more "radio-gramophoney"), but hey, at the end of the day it's your choice. The disc is good fun.
