Excellent guide to materials and construction-perfect for design students!,
This review is from: Basics Architecture 02: Construction & Materiality (Paperback)
This book is a great help when researching the possibilities of different materials, for precedents for design projects and for simply improving one's knowledge of architectural materials.
I would recommend this book to architecture, interior architecture students as well as professionals.
The chapters are themed around various key building materials such as `Brick and Stone', `Concrete', `Timber', `Glass and Steel' as well as `Composite Materials'. There is also a really useful chapter on the possibilities for future materials and sustainability. The author has provided an interesting account of the history and context of each material as well as a time line of various influential projects.
Some really fantastic case studies have been included, both contemporary and classic.
