This review is from: Housewife in Love (Paperback)
This is the fourth in the series of 'Housewife' books, though even if you haven't read the previous three this one would still stand on its own. The characters are eccentric, the dialogue and the writing is crisp and amusing.
Will Helen finally marry Rick is the main question to be answered in this story. Many obstacles seem to get between her and the wedding including Rick's teenage daughter Lola and Helen's own doubts about starting on a new marriage when her first was a disaster zone.
While Helen wrestles with her problems both practical and emotional, her sister Julia is battling with a first pregnancy at over 40 and friend Leonie is still struggling with her children and husband. Their problems serve to distract Helen from her own problems but will they finally prevent her finding happiness with Rick?
For me this book was a real page turner and I had to find out what happened to all the characters. I love Paul and Sally - Helen's neighbours - and the way they always look after her. Leonie and Julia give voice to all the complaints most women have about the men in their lives. All the characters are realistic and believable and the situations often hilariously funny. I loved it.
