This set of recipes has been a great hit with my 3 children aged 4,7 and 9 and doesn't look out of place in my cookery book section with the spine looking edge of the recipe box cleverly making it look like a normal book. The novelty of having a secret box of recipes is great and the practicality of the recipe sheets being individual and wipe clean is very handy. Rather than taking a whole book around the supermarket thay only need one recipe sheet and there are no problems with them taking 1 sheet each. No arguments about who's going to hold the book and no copying out a shopping list. Bliss.
What first caught my childrens' eye was the 'recipe' about sandwiches and fruit and veg on skewers. Luckily I had some leftover barbecue skewers which
were perfect fo the job and it was a clever and simple idea which worked well. It's also the first time none of them complained about eating all their veg.
My children have also been enthused to try out new vegetables and give others they disliked in the past another go such as spinach. The 40 (all vegetarian) recipes are easy to follow and there are no photos to give you or your children performance anxiety of what the finished product should look like. This is fun, healthy cooking.
There is also some extra room in the box which makes getting the cards in and out very easy but my children have taken to writing their own recipes and adding them to the box. They do a lot of 'food design' lessons at school (today even my 4 year old came home with a soup recipe and pot of soup from Primary school) and my older 2 always seem to be designing sandwiches and desserts in school. This is an excellent place to keep their recipe creations and instructions.
