Great ideas here!,

This review is from: Fabulous Woven Jewelry: Plaiting, Coiling, Knotting, Looping and Twining with Fibre and Metal (Lark Jewelry Books) (Paperback)
I found this book full of interesting ideas. I found it in the library - and after several loan renewals have finally bought it!
The author has transferred her experience in basket-making to making mixed-media jewellery, in a delightfully inventive way. I had no prior knowledge of this craft (though I have some experience with basic wirework jewellery); but I found her instructions and diagrams very clear and easy to follow. I like the ideas for combining materials, too - metal wire and sheet with beads, yarns, raffia, black ash; and even pine needles and bits of found wood.
The book is divided into sections, which present a particular technique, eg looping, or twining; then go on to give an example made with that technique. There are also numerous photographs of the authors work, which show how the technique can be applied.
One thing though: why bash a window in copper sheet with a hammer and sharpened screwdriver, when piercing saws are quite cheap and easily obtainable?
