This review is from: Body Snatchers in the Desert: The Horrible Truth at the Heart of the Roswell Story (Paperback)
Mr Redfern as the books title states, does reveal some horrible truths at the heart of ufology. Fistly there is the question of "Nazi Ufos". Mr Redfern seems utterly convinced that the Ufo phenomonon originates wth advanced German aircraft during the Second World War. Surely this gives the Nazis too much credit and ignores witness testimony before this period. Mr Redfern relies in his investigations almost entirely on documentation rather than on the first hand account of witnesses. He ignores the truly bizarre and exotic nature of these vehicles. Anyone with direct experience of the various phenomena knows that these "aircraft" cannot be solely the product of human engineering, and to try and reduce the data to one simple explanation is rather naive. No-one is trying to deny that some sightings are of advanced military aircraft.
There is so much disinformation surrounding the Roswell incident, and doubtless some falsified documents, that to approach the truth is almost impossible; the only thing that can be said with certainty is that the truth has been effectively suppressed.
The second horrible truth that Nick Redfern reveals is his confusion regarding the differences between Japanese people and the "alien bodies" which some claim were discovered amongst the Roswell wreckage. Surely after five years of fighting the Japanese, any witness would know the difference between a physically handicapped Japanese person and an extra- terrestrial. His research on the psy- ops aspects of the Ufo phenomena are extremely interesting and there is no doubt that governments have manipulated the data and made people shut up and doubt there own sanity, but can aliens really be substituted for the Japanese? And will they be required to register as such?
