Problems getting serial number but great product,
This review is from: Adobe Photoshop Extended CS4 Student Edition (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
This product is great value if you can meet the eligibility requirements. Unfortunately, unlike others I had problems. We have a son in full time education and we had prviously obtained Microsoft Office without a hitch, simply gave his name and name and addrees of School which was checked automatically and the product dispatched with a product key. Eligibility for CS4 was exactly the same but proved much more troublesome.Ideally Adobe require photo identity with name and date, which we had. (If you don't have this they require additional information from the place of education.) However, when software arrived we were given a link to adobe to digitally send proof but the link did'nt work and there was not a simple way to find this from the Adobe website. Phoned Adobe Customer Services who asked us to send proof with coupon number and additional scanned LOT code frome bottom of packaging. Although Adobe Email address was correct there were problems with recipient accepting the proof and it was continually returned to us. Attempts contacting relevant site through other Email portals at Adobe did not work. Contacted Adobe Customer Service again who created a case number and was talked us through a process of regitering and sending proof through a different portal. Finally a couple of days later we received the serial number and could use the software.
I tell this long story so that people will not be put off obtaining this product. Going through this process was stressful, given Adobes insistance that if eligibilty cannot be prooved there will be no refunds under any circumstances. I appear to have been unlucky with technical problems at the Adobe website that made meeting eligibility problematic. However, I did not find the website very helpfull and given eligibility was identical to obtaining Office 2007, Adobe could learn a lot from Microsoft in this respect. In contrast the staff at Adobe Customer Support were excellent.

If product was great, then why only 3 stars? Surely your experiences with the manufacturer regarding the palaver with key code should be disregarded when considering the performance of the software, (which is what you should be reviewing, not the manufacturers customer service) and thus didnt warrant you dropping 2 stars because of it? Not a helpful review on the whole tbh....

Seeing the product being reviewed is the Student edition problems in registering is very useful to know, I too managed to get Microsoft's student deal on office without a hitch (they just needed the correct email address).
Is there any difference between the student one and the normal version?
Also is the helpline expensive to call?

The customer review facility is for giving an opinion of the product. It is not for people to have a whinge and a moan about their personal exeperiences. If you have problems with registration etc. then send the software back to the supplier for a refund.
