The most unrealistic game ever,
This review is from: Championship Manager 5 (PC) (Video Game)
I bought this game not knowing about the split of the people who made the previous champ man games which I thought were pretty good. I started the game as Man Utd (ps I am a 19 year old from MANCHESTER who DOES support Utd, not some cockney who just picks Utd coz they have money). Anyway, on my first game I noticed that it seemed to have been made by the same people who made the fictional football cartoon, the hurricanes. Penalties are more often missed than not, out of about 50 in a season you can expect to score about 2, also, the players such as Ruud Van Nistelrooy, apart from missing penalties, misses every 1 on 1, and sometimes, having a practically open net, will kick it straight to the keeper. Also it seems that as soon as a striker receives the ball, he'll turn and shoot regardless of where he is on the pitch, slow-paced half-way line shots are a regular occurance and add to the tedium, after this, a striker can get 10/10 having missed a penalty and maybe a million 1 on 1s.
Also, accidental handballs are not a bookable offence in real life, the referees on the game, who are all fictional and all foriegn (no foreign refs in the Prem last time I checked) hand out bookings like it's christmas, on average, half of my team is booked by the end of a match even though the tackling is set to normal. You can be winning 4-0 and someone like Ryan Giggs will go in 2 footed and get sent off, probably every second match you can expect this to happen, oh yeah, and your players will rarely get injured during a match, only 1 all seaon for me, in which I won the league despite 7 losses, with chelsea coming 2nd with 10 losses, very fake. Players will get injured however, but always in training.
Regular news updates will inform you that players such as John Terry and Frank Lampard are linked with the likes of Southampton. And, no matter how good your defence is, your keeper will pass the ball straight to an opposite teams striker every once in a while and manage to get at least 7/10 while sometimes your defenders will suddenly either stop the ball dead while in possession and run away from it as if someone has said "get away from that you overpaid girl!" or sometimes even turn around and kick it in their own net, that is not a lie, I'v seen it happen more than once. There are countless more annoyingly unrealistic traits to the game which don't quite spring to mind right now but I think you get the picture, take my advice and the advice of some of the other reviews and buy Football Manager instead which all my mates say is well good.
