4.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this if you are on Windows 8.1, 10 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: QuickBooks Pro 2014 - 1 User (PC) (DVD-ROM)
I have used QuickBooks for years and only bought this upgrade because my older version would not run on Windows 8. Now I want to upgrade Windows to 8.1 and I daren't because Intuit have apparently not yet approved QuickBooks 2014 to run on it.
Update:
I have now discovered a serious glitch in this version of QB. If you try to post a deduction from a payment to an Accounts Receivable account whilst writing a cheque the program lets you do it - but it then completely screws up your sales ledger! I am having to go back as far as 2008 re-writing entries to sort it out. This is a nightmare.

I've just got directly in contact with Intuit and they confirm that Pro 2014 is fully compatible with Windows 8.1, I gave them a reminder that putting this information on their website would help their potential Users! - we were seriously considering our options after spending on 2012 to find it's giving lots of issues as it is not compatible with 8.1.
I hope you report that glitch to Intuit, what a nightmare for you to have to go back that far re-writing entries! terrible for you :-(

Hi Jan. Well the Intuit help line told me (repeated on Monday 06/01.14) that it is not compatible with 8.1! Curioser and curioser!

I'm using QuickBooks Accountant Edition 2014 on a laptop running Windows 8.1 without any problems. I'm also running the QBW file directly from an SD card formatted (not sure it matters!) in NTFS with auto QBB backups to my hard drive and cloud. This has worked perfectly for me and gives me the security of knowing I can use my working file from the removable SD card should my laptop fail. I don't think this method is endorsed by Intuit but easy access to my working file would be preferable than restoring from a backup.
