Excellent guide for the beginner,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: How to Cast Small Metal and Rubber Parts (Paperback)
I bought this along with 'Modeller's Guide to Mould Making and Resin Casting' and this is by far the better book. (See my other review.)
Well illustrated, full of hints, tips, Do's & Don'ts, and with detailed steps to make moulds in various mediums and produce castings in most metals or rubber.
Originally written when room temperature vulcanising rubbers (RTV) were a novelty, it has lost none of its usefulness - the RTV industry has moved on, but only in the variety of products it offers, not in the basic concept (rubber now comes in 6 different grades of Shore Hardness as opposed to the 2 covered in the book, and silicone & latex now come in umpteen different grades for moulding.)
This is a well-written, very readable guide which will enable any amateur mould-maker to produce almost anything in rubber or metal.
Gets my 4 stars ****
