I like Lou Reed. To me, the Velvet Underground were my Beatles, one of the greatest all-time combos. What keeps me coming back to Lou's solo projects is that every now and again, he comes up with a bit of a cracker; occasionally a stinker, but he's rarely boring. This album, which features his fine live band of the early eighties, with the metallic clang of guitarist Robert Quine being a very effective counterfoil to a reasonably energised Lou, is fine stuff. There's excellent rock combo retoolings of Velvets classics, and a good cross-section of solo stuff. Well worth checking out.
