Pure perfection from the greatest pianist of them all.,

This review is from: New Conversations (Audio CD)
This is Evans' 3rd attempt at an overdub album, and by far the best. While the first two were excellent, they were still a bit rough around the edges. With "New Conversations" he has obviously ironed out the creases from the first 2, and created, what is in my opinion, one of the great jazz albums. He always seems truly at home when he is on his own, and with the introduction of the fender rhodes, he adds a variety to the texture, he is always perfectly in control of the music.
He goes from the beautiful, melodic ballads ("For Nennette" and "Reflections in D") to driving tunes, where he swings hard ("Nobody Else But Me").
In some of his trio work, it can seem as if the band are a little too caught up in themselves to care about the audience, but in this album, the 3 "Bills" interact beautifully, giving a perfect performance full of passion and feeling.
