This review is from: Syberia 2 (PC) (Video Game)
This game is powered by the heart of a poet. Benoit Sokal has created an elegaic, bittersweet sequel to Syberia. Simply superb. As has been noted elsewhere, this is not for fans of shoot-em-up games. This for people who stop and look around them in wonderment at life and existence. Those who get a thrill in extinguishing life by pulling the trigger can go elsewhere.
The game is very cinematic in feel, with long shots and closeups used to good effect. I loved the homage to Hitchcock's "The Birds", and in the transformation of Oscar, I was weeping along with Kate...
Sometimes, the script went awry, with voice cues out of place or sequence, but I am more than willing to forgive these lapses for the overall effect.
Perhaps the end gives hints for a third episode - what next for Kate - if Sokal can keep up this intensity of writing, then I'll be waiting... Bravo!
