Tangerine Dream Dark,
This review is from: Surface To Air (Audio CD)
I heard a portion of this album (almost certainly the last track) playing in a record shop. I was intrigued enough to stop browsing and listened to the music, cogitating in my mind whether I liked it or not. To me it sounded very like Tangerine Dream, but the part I heard was very dark, almost metal like but mixed up with something that sounded more at home at rave parties - a mish-mash of beats and loops that I personally utterly detest as being tuneless random noise.
However this was different - Tangerine Dream sticking in my mind I went back and took a chance and bought it.
It has the the feel of both worlds - Tangerine Dream and techno but neither influence is overpowering and is blended with skill.
Not quite chill-out music and not too trippy either.
For me, stuck in the mid 1970s, this was a rare modern purchase. I think it'll grow on me.
