a true film production handbook,
This review is from: Producer to Producer: A Step-by-Step Guide to Low Budget Independent Film Producing (Paperback)
This book is great. I've spent ages trawling the shelves of the bookshops for a good honest guide to getting a project into production but this one actually feels like it's written by someone who has genuine hands-on experience of the film industry. Just a look at the contents page gives you an idea of how thorough it breaks down the whole process, step-by-step from inception to festivals. Her personal experience comes through to help illustrate the potential pitfalls and stumbling blocks that with a little foresight can be, if not always avoided, then at least cushioned. There are not only the usual sections on keeping the finances straight but also keeping a crew happy - more relevant than ever in today's climate of low/no pay. I'm sure this will become a bible to many novice and seasoned film-makers alike. Highly recommended!
