Like the 'pistol style' head,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Hahnel Triad 90 PG Professional Aluminum Alloy Tripod with 360° Pistol Head and Free Carrying Case (Accessory)
I could only find one reveiw of this tripod on the web, so I was dubious about buying it. I wanted a tripod that was tall and had a quick release plate that was under a £100 and this ticked those boxes, so I went for it.
Good news is that build quality seems good and it feels like a quality product. The pistol head seems to work just fine. I tried it on some 30 second exposures with 2 Kg of camera and lens at the 'portrait' angle, and the images were sharp, so there appears to be no slight movement of a heavy camera at that angle.
The one review I did find complained of grease getting on fingers from the ball head that works the pistol, but I have not had that problem so far. I have used the tripod on a very rocky beach and it seemed to cope just fine stability wise.
The quick release plate works just fine as well.
The only 'complaints' are that firstly, it claims to be 177 cm high (my exact height), or thereabouts, but when fully extended, it doesn't seem to be that high. Secondly, I am used to securing the leg extensions with the 'flip the clip' style (whatever it's called) but this tripod has a securing method that involves tightening via a screwing action (sorry, don't know the proper terms) which I found slowed me down a little in the field. especially when working quickly e.g. you only have a few seconds before the light changes. Obviously, if you don't screw the leg tightly enough by hand, it will move and the shot will be blurred. I find my other tripod faster and have more confidence that it is tight.
That said, for £80, I really like this tripod so far and will continue to use it. It feels like quality, it is light but strong and the pistol head is easy to use and seems reliable so far.

on mine the lower legs completely detached from the upper legs when i tried to extend it. how do you address this? i had to fiddle about trying to put them back in with a black plastic collar and 2 white plastic pieces than came out with the legs.... just unusable...
