Cow ears - be warned, they contain food colouring which stains.,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I ordered a box of 25 cow ears for my Labrador. I was influenced by the statement that there were "no added preservatives" in the cow ears. I therefore assumed that the they are an entirely natural product. When I fed them to the dog orange stains appeared on the carpets which we have been unable to remove. I initially thought this might be blood from a wound in his paw. However, I began to suspect that the stains came from the cow ears. I soaked one in warm water and found that whatever is on the cow ear had coloured the water dark orange. I wrote to Personalised Pet Products who replied saying that they had enquired about the colouring from the suppliers. The suppliers say that the colouring is a "food dye." On this basis, the description of the cow ears has been, for me and perhaps others, misleading. They are not a natural product. Coloured dyes have been banned from human food and I cannot see any justification for feeding them to dogs. I am also left with two ruined rugs and stains on the living room carpet.
The cow ears are barely larger than normal pig ears and over twice the price.
