A thrilling ending!,
This review is from: Order Restored (The Impaler Legacy Book 5) (Kindle Edition)
At the ending of the last novella "A Victory That Counts" in the Impalers Legacy, Jesse was kidnapped, and our other leads Liana and Max were safe. Of course now Liana is bent on finding him. To do so however, she lets Max put a compulsion on her with regards to her feelings for Jesse, so she can make judgments with a sound mind. Then, by accident she stumbles upon a base of the new breeds and finds out what they are up to there. This part is chilling, and told so vividly, I was literally cringing when reading. To my surprise she finds Jesse fairly quickly, but of course things are not as they seem and Liana has to make a horrible agreement to get back her loved one. One you can't believe she truly would go through with, but our main character has gone through a lot, and perhaps this changed her morals just enough ?
I do not know what else to tell about the rest, as it may spoiler too much, but let me just say that with the losses and the character deaths of the past, the writer had me fully convinced everything can happen and I was bracing myself for a possible bad outcome. Which is I truly dreaded, but in is great, as it really tells how much you start to care for the characters.
The only 'beef' I had with this installment, was that the end seemed very abrupt and did not leave me with a very satisfied feeling. There was a glimpse into the future, but only a 'wish it to be so' so one can never know if that is how it truly ended up. Luckily, Ioana wrote another short story taking place after "Order Restored" (just like after the previous 2 novellas), named "The Third Wheel" which takes care of these feelings sufficiently.
