Gore... Who'd Done It,
This review is from: The Kult (Paperback)
The opening of "The Kult" scared me so much, that I thought I'd never finish it (the same happened to me when I read one of Stephen King's stories), but my natural curiosity made me determined to read on. Actually, it was probably not just curiosity, but the great ability of the author to tell the story in such a way that I couldn't put the book down. I'm not the one for the gory bits, but those necessary details were dealt with competently, and as I moved from chapter to chapter, the atmosphere grew ever more gloomy and enigmatic.
The hero, Prosper Snow, comes across as honest and vulnerable, though he presents as tough and resolute to the outside world. He is a great character, and I'll be looking forward to the next novel with his participation.
Having checked out Shaun's profile on the "net", I realise that "The Kult" is going to be made into a movie - not surprising if you take into account the SPECTACULAR denouement of the book, and all I can say is that I wish the book and the author every success, and many more to come - I'll certainly be on the look out for the next one! P.S. - and no, I didn't guess who'd done it, and neither, I think, will you!
