Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)The plot of this book is so involved, at times I felt it was like a jigsaw - with the pieces put together slightly wrongly.
One of the main characters is a married security man resuming an affair with a woman whose eldest son, it turns out, is involved in a near rape in a sinister man's house. The father of the attacked girl has given good reason in the past to be a prime suspect. Meanwhile, also present at the scene of the attack, is a university teacher having an affair with a student - who is in the same class as the attacked girl.
The book is certainly readable, with some wonderful phrases like: "for four weeks they lived in the illuminated corners of their lives." My main problem with it, is the ending - there isn't a satisfactory resolution of most of the issues. Once one of the characters decides to speak up and tell the truth about what happened in sinister man's house, events move on to an unconvincing, unsatisfying climax, leaving many dangling threads behind.
