An illusionistic master piece,
This review is from: Pink Floyd: The Wall [DVD] (DVD)
This movie is based on the Pink Floyd album 'The Wall'. The concept album The Wall concerns the boy Pink, who lost his father in the war, and how he grows up to be (and turns into) the great rockstar he is.
The Wall is a brilliant movie, but by no means an easy one.
This Art-movie is by no means linear. Furthermore, it is full of flashbacks, and it has disturbing, but also impressive and ground breaking animation sequences.
Because the movie has (virtually) no dialogue, the only 'spoken' reference for the story are the songs. So one should keep close attention when watching this film.
For Pink Floyd fans it is good to know that this film features a few extra songs, as well that some songs are changed a bit to fit the movie better. Examples 'When the Tigers broke free' (new song), Empty Spaces (altered song).
However, not all the songs from the album are also included in this film. Strangely, the song 'Hey you' is absent.
This is a very good visionary, and illusionistic, masterpiece with brilliant songs. This movie can have a great impact.
