Major Total War Fan - Hugely Disappointed both with the Makers of the Game and Amazon! DLC - What DLC Code?,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Total War Rome II (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
In a nutshell, as a very frequent customer, the service was awful from start to finish.
Can I just say firstly that I am a huge believer in reviewing the entire service from ordering the product to receiving the product, i.e. delivery. For an online business to shrug their shoulders at the hand of postal services is un-acceptable; they have a responsibility to communicate with the companies they use to ensure total customer satisfaction.
Firstly, I pre-ordered this product as an Amazon Prime member with one-day delivery and was expected to receive it on release day; however it did not arrive and arrived the next day instead (first disappointment with such 'pre-order guarantees'). Another shrug from Amazon on 'it's not our fault'; despite them dispatching the product late in the evening on the evening before release (which is probably something to do with why it arrived late).
Secondly, DLC Code, what DLC Code? Amazon repeatedly said I would receive the code the next day, but with every day surpassed a new lie was unveiled. Number 2 : dreadful service.
Thirdly, it would be unjust for me to give the product a 1-star review based on the service and delivery and not on the actual product itself. But quite frankly, the product is not ready for release; I would say it is in its beta stages. It obviously has not been tested on a wide-enough scale; despite running this game on Quad Core I7 with a great Graphics card and sufficient RAM, the performance is terrible (despite trying all of the graphic options); which leads me to believe that from most forums it is not the computer but the software which is causing some many glitches, poor FPS and general performance.
Lastly, I much prefer the first Rome game, there is no improvement, the AI are useless (basically charge and cause a huge mosh pit in the battlefield) and the speed of which the squadrons of soldiers, move is so unrealistic is unbelievable. A huge, huge disappointment and I think there is little hope that patches will improve this game sufficiently for me to change my mind and say it is worthy of an average/good review.
I am not a hater or a grump; I simply am expressing my opinion, as every paying customer has the right to do. But compounded with a poor Amazon pre-order service and a poor product execution, I think a 1-star review is suitable in this instance (by the looks of official forums It is not uncommon for people also to be giving poor reviews of both Amazon service and the game performance on this matter).
