A disappointing read,
This review is from: A Clouded Sky (Hardcover)
The story is set during the English Civil War, in which a young Richenda and her family, are at the mercy of the Royalists who invade their home. The inhabitants of Black Castle feel they are safe - especially with the appearance of the new falconer, until they are betrayed from within. Richenda must remain strong for her family's sake and try to find a way to escape, whilst denying her feelings towards her enemy, Lord Devenish.
This book first appealed to me, as I like this period in English history and the plot. However, I felt this book was written towards younger readers instead for adults. As the style of writing and the story of having a young teenage girl as the heroine other than mature adults in the story, would appeal more to pre - early teen readers. Also, I was disappointed with the cost of the book, what for it was - a short story. Maybe, I've been spoilt by reading Pamela Belle's epics!
