Bring Back Comedy (BBC),
This review is from: The Morecambe & Wise Show - The Thames Years [DVD] (DVD)
I have to admit, the Thames years are definitely not as consistantly funny as the BBC years, but that does not mean that their time at Thames was unsuccessful. They had some great sketches such as Jungle Book, Sylvester and Tweety Pie and their Christmas special in 1980 was brilliant. (Found on the 2nd disk)
Some jokes fall flat, some fall even flatter. If you are a M&W geek, you will notice that some sketches are almost exactly the same as sketches from the BBC years. Example: Hannah Gordon's first appearance on the series and when they invite someone round for Christmas dinner. (This is the same as when they invite Anne Hamilton round for Christmas, but their delivery in the jokes aren't the same and thus aren't funny!)
I am a massive Morecambe and Wise fan, so this is a much needed series in my collection. However, it won't be watched as often as say the Morecambe & Wise - Christmas Specials [DVD].
