This review is from: Soldier Soldier: The Complete Series [DVD] (DVD)A long stay in hospital gave me the chance to view all 80 episodes at least once. They tell of the deeds in bed and battle of a modern (1990s)infantry battalion and its members. There are some, minor, continuity flaws and the earlier series with Robson and Jerome (Hong Kong,Cyprus,Australia and Africa and New Zealand)are probably the best.
The differences between the officers and men is made pretty clear perhaps it really is like that;the officers dine in the Mess with fine wine, candles, silverware with Mozart playing whilst the squaddies visit more less grotty pubs drink beer and are entertained by disco thrash. At one point Lt Sheridan makes a drink for herself and Sgt Angela McLeod. The officer gets a cup and saucer and the Sergeant a mug.
There are a range of more or less likeable characters;Joy(Susan Carter)Wilton, Jeremy (Nice but dim)Forsyth, Andy (thick but amiable)Butcher and
Jacko(thick but violent)Barton.To name a few.t
I would recommed this set.
