Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Philips AT892/22 AquaTouch Wet and Dry Electric Shaver with Jet Clean and Charge system (Personal Care)
The Shaver appears to work ok, better than I expected as I have always used a blade. BUT, the charger unit is huge, dangerous as the liquid can easily spill and also its noisy. The Instructions are next to useless! This is the main reason why I rated it so low ...there are none! Only a very small booklet with pictures. I`m an engineer so you would think it would be easy to use a shaver. I couldn't even get it to charge.

If you buy one be warned, you must make sure you push the shaver down and then backwards into the rear of charger unit and then used the locking mechanism to hold it in place. It`s easy to use the lock mechanism when the shaver is too far forward and in this position it will not charge and the Jet clean will not work. I think this is a stupid design fault that Philips should not have made.

In conclusion, don`t bother to buy it. Buy another make or buy the cheaper Philips without the Jet Clean/Charge base unit.

Mr. W. Mills says:
I just had it for christmas, great shaver... However im having the same issue with the charger/ jet wash . It dips the shaver in, flashes blue and then brings it back out two or three times. I was expecting it to have a cleaning cycle (without me turning the shaver on prior to it being dipped ) and for it to charge? Ill try again in the week. Is this the same as yourself? Ill try again with what you suggested . Thanks

That's the same problem I think...push the shaver hard into the rear of the base charger. The design is stupid as you can push the lock down even when the shaver is not correctly seated. LOCK the shaver otherwise it wont charge!

When its in place it will charge automatically. You can clean it at ANY time using the button on the base.

If a rep from Philips is reading this.....No charge mate, I love doing your work!...but next time write the blxxdy instructions properly!!!

Happy New Year

Had to read your review to figure out how to use the base unit so thanks for that.
I can agree that the instructions are useless, I know its Xmas but I didn't want to play Pictionary I just wanted to charge the dam thing.
Also don't understand why it doesn't come with a protective carry case yet the cheaper model does??? Will be sending an email to Philips about this one.

As with previous comment, poor instruction manual (pictures), these reviews/comments helped much more. Agree the cleaning/charging dock is on the large side.
Still getting used to shaver always used Gillette Mach blades before, fairly close shave, will still occasionally use blades if I want really close shave.

Avidbuyer says:
You can, of course charge it without using Jet clean unit. Just plug it in directly using the supplied cable

I know. But this is not too safe for the shaver as its not held captive. The base does clean the shaver but I don´t think any better than just running the open foils under the tap. Base is far too big. One thing that´´s good is that after 3 month use the shaver now fits into the base ok. It shaves ok albeit a lot slower than normal wet shave with blade. Shaver good...base not so good....instructions rubbish. Regards
