"Give them warning from me" Ezekiel 3 v 17,
This review is from: Whatever Happened To Hell? (Paperback)
In an age when even "evangelical" preachers shy away from this subject John Blanchard is to be commended for his courage in grasping the nettle and boldly declaring the truth.
Preachers and evangelists who do not warn of Hell are betraying their calling and not dealing faithfully with their hearers. How many of the lost will say on the judgment day "you didn't warn me!" - truly their blood will be on our hands if we don't speak the truth about eternity.
Not only is this a book that cearly states the Biblical position on eternal damnation but it also correctly points out the errors of the "annihilationist" position. Furthermore, I was particularly moved by the section that dealt with the conscience - indeed, one of the most awful aspects of Hell's sufferings will be the fact that the damned will be constantly reminded of the lost opportunities to be saved.
Finally, if there is no eternal punishment then what are we saved from? The result of a book like this should be to spur us on to greater efforts in evangelism remembering that we are on a rescue mission.
