Degas in his own write!,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Degas by Himself: Drawings, Prints, Paintings, Writings (By himself series) (Paperback)
Neat compilation of Dega's writings on art, lavishly illustrated.
It is always good to try and get into the mindset of a painter such as Degas, not least to understand the problems he had with his sight. For the larger part of his career he had only monocular vision and Kendal (the editor of this book and a Degas authority) teases out the implications of this for an artist for whom, for example, dancers were so important
This book was first published in a much larger format. This smaller version suffers accordingly by being quite small in comparison but for fans of this great painter on a budget (like me!) it will do.
