Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G Lens (Camera)
I have just purchased these lenses after so much research on the differences and advantages of the 35mm versus the standard and most popular 50mm.
The first thing that drew my attention was that these lenses are for DX cameras, like my D5300. The 50mm have awesome reviews but are for non-DX cameras, although they also fit these. The crop factor of the DX makes a 1.5x increase so I thought I'd be losing a bit of the short focal length point if I bought the 50mm. Besides, the reviews for both lenses in both camera bodies were all great. I wasn't going to lose much purchasing either one, it seemed.
After using it for a while, I can already notice the huge difference agains my kit 18mm-55m. I am delighted with the blurry backgrounds on these 35mm, and the high quality of the portrait pictures. Close ups come out so naturally and beautiful.
One of the main reasons I bought this lenses was that my D5300 kit 18mm-55mm seemed limiting and without that fully professional blurred background effect we normally see. They still have a great quality image and blur, but not so easy to just point and shoot or to take close up portrait photos. The 35mm does just that.
